Update ARCHIVE v0.2.028

Hello friends of Archive,

it's finally here. Archive 0.2.028. Again a lot of nice things have been added. But before we talk about them let us spend some words why it took so long.

First of we still can't effort living by the money we get out of Archive. In the last month lucky us got some first patreons. And we are very proud and thankful to these people. It's a nice start, but by now not enough to truly focus on develope Archive at least somewhat close to a part time job. That being said, you know whats coming next.. right, we had to do a lot of other things to keep our stomachs full.

The other big reason for such a long update time were and are the international conflicts that occured in the last weeks. We don't want this to be a political post, we just want to say that this conflict and it's loses held our creativity and usually good mood down. It's hard to be sexy & entertaining when your heart and mind is somewhere else. May this end soon!

ENGINE

The huge change most of you will not notice. We switched our whole project to a new shader pipeline. We did that once before, only to take it back days later. At that time a lot of you told us about serious performance losses. We did a lot of research and do now hope we fixed that. Even though this time there are again performance losses, it shouldn't be such a big difference as last time.

You may now ask, "But why are you doing this then?". True, it's somewhat annoying to worsen the performance with an update. But it's necessary to bring Archive alive. It's a first step into Archive RT 3D.

IVENTORY

Damn, I always lack that N.

Yep, it's done.

Ok, it's not. But items are. You are now able to add items to your inventory and access them. And so is Archive. She also knows how to use them. All of this took a while, to implement and to figure out how the controls of it should be. Yet we are not a 100% sure if it's final. But it does work and seems to have a good workflow.

More Updates

A list of all these other bits and pieces that got added you'll find below. And aside from more story content we will now switch our focus to ex- & import of user content. So that you can write your own chapters and add them easily to a new version of Archive or swap them with others. Working on Archive RT 3D will as always also continue, progress is being made, but a version of that is still somewhat further in the future.
